Lesscue is in development. Product-specific guidance describes the current native development build. Public App Store availability has not been announced. Website screens use illustrative data.

The practical answer

A caregiving boundary should preserve agreed contact routes before setting optional apps aside. Identify the applications, people and information you may need during the period, then use a duration and ending mode that fit those responsibilities. Lesscue is a personal focus tool, not an emergency communications or monitoring service.

A setup to try

  1. Agree on the route people should use when they need you, and keep the relevant application available.
  2. Test that route and review notification behavior separately from whether the app can be opened.
  3. Start with a short Confirm session around a specific task and adjust the group only after seeing what responsibilities arise.

Can I block social media while remaining reachable by family?

Yes, keep the family’s actual contact applications outside the selected group or explicitly Always Allowed. Review notification settings separately so availability and alerts match the plan. The configuration should preserve a route people already know to use rather than depending on them to guess a new one.

Does Always Allowed guarantee that every urgent call will reach me?

No. It is an app-access exception inside Lesscue, not a guarantee about mobile service, notification delivery or another person’s contact method. Review those separate conditions and test the agreed route. Do not treat the presence of an exception as a complete communications plan.

Should I choose Locked when my responsibilities are unpredictable?

Confirm to end may fit better when necessary access can change unexpectedly. Locked has no ordinary early ending, so choose it only for a window whose essential tools and contact needs are clear. A flexible mode can be a deliberate match for real responsibilities.

Can Lesscue allow one contact inside a blocked messaging app?

The current application boundary does not select individual conversations or people inside a messenger. Preserve the messaging app if that contact must remain reachable there, and use the app or iPhone’s own notification controls for more specific interruption choices.

What apps should I review before a caregiving focus session?

Review the tools you actually use for contact, appointments, travel, shared information and authentication. Avoid a generic checklist that assumes everyone uses the same services. Test the important route from start to finish, because one task may depend on several applications rather than a single obvious app.

Is Pro Emergency access a substitute for keeping essential tools available?

No. Emergency access is a limited release for current Locked protection, not a routine way to reach tools you expect to need. It requires a continuous five-second hold and has two confirmed uses per rolling seven days. Prepare ordinary essential access before starting.

What if I need to change an exception while a Confirm session is running?

A change that relaxes current protection must follow the relevant ending policy rather than silently rewriting the boundary. Review the confirmation presented by the app. For recurring needs, update the saved setup afterwards so the same essential tool is not missing again next time.

Can I use a short session while waiting for an expected call?

Use a group that preserves the contact route and choose a duration that fits the task you can complete while waiting. Check alerts independently from app access. The goal is to use the available interval well, not to pretend that the expected call has stopped being part of the plan.

Will Lesscue tell others that I am available for urgent matters?

It does not send availability messages or explain your configuration to other people. Agree on the communication expectation directly. A personal app boundary should not be relied on to notify family members, colleagues or care contacts that one route is preferred over another.

How should I evaluate whether this setup is working?

Look at whether you completed the intended task while remaining reachable through the planned route. Note the tools you unexpectedly needed and refine the next setup. A lower screen-time total alone is not the right success measure when useful phone access is part of the responsibility.
