The practical answer
Lesscue’s Beyond your screen view translates a time budget into possible activities using assumptions you can edit. A planning target and an observed Screen Time reduction are different starting points. Walking distance, pages, and hypothetical earnings are alternative uses of the same minutes, not additional outcomes the app claims you achieved.
A setup to try
- Read the time basis first. Choose a planning target if you are exploring a change, or use an available reported reduction when the comparison provides one.
- Edit the assumption that drives the result: walking pace, pages per hour, session length, or hourly rate and currency. Use a figure that fits your situation rather than treating a default as a measured personal trait.
- Choose one possibility you would actually like to try. Do not add the walking, reading, and earnings figures together; each uses the same underlying time budget.
- After the week, record what you really did outside the app. The estimate helps make a plan, while your actual walk, book, or paid work is a separate result.
If I reduce screen time by 30 minutes, does Lesscue count that as a completed walk?
No. The walking figure is a possible distance at the pace you choose, not a recorded workout. Lesscue is translating a time budget into an idea. You still decide whether to walk, and the app does not claim GPS, steps, or exercise evidence for that estimate.
How do I calculate a walking estimate without assuming everyone walks equally fast?
Edit the walking-pace assumption in Beyond your screen and read the pace printed beside the result. For example, half an hour at four kilometers per hour corresponds to two kilometers. That arithmetic is a planning example, not a recommendation about your health or mobility.
Why can the same saved time show both pages and a money amount?
They are alternative uses of one time budget. A reading estimate uses pages per hour; a time-value estimate uses an hourly rate. You cannot count both as benefits already obtained from the same minutes. Choose the interpretation that helps you make a specific next plan.
Does the earnings estimate mean Lesscue helped me make that money?
No. It is hypothetical value if the time became paid work at the rate you entered, before tax. It does not establish available clients, billable work, wages earned, or profit. Treat it as a way to compare priorities, not as a financial return on the app.
Can I change the currency without using an exchange-rate conversion?
Yes. The assumption is your chosen hourly amount and currency, rather than an automatic conversion of a wage from another currency. Enter the rate you mean in that currency. The estimate should remain understandable even when you do not have a fixed hourly income.
What if I read dense textbooks much more slowly than novels?
Change the pages-per-hour assumption to fit the material you are planning to read. A page is not a standard unit of difficulty. The estimate gives a rough activity option, so it should not be used to compare your reading ability with another person’s pace.
Why does the card say Planning target instead of Screen Time reduction?
The app uses a planning target when a usable positive reduction is not available or when you choose to plan. That label prevents a hypothetical reduction from appearing as an observed result. Read it before sharing a number or describing it as time already saved.
Can I use the estimate for language practice rather than exercise?
Yes. The learning option divides the time budget into blocks using the duration you set. Choose a block length that fits a real task, such as one listening exercise. The resulting count describes available blocks, not proof that vocabulary, fluency, or other skills improved.
Should I add together seven daily estimates and a weekly estimate?
Only if they represent separate nonoverlapping time budgets. A weekly calculation may already contain those same days, so adding both would double-count. Check the displayed period and basis before combining figures, and prefer one clearly defined window for your review.
What is a realistic way to turn a large estimate into an actual habit?
Choose one small appointment from the available time, such as a single reading block after dinner, and arrange what you need beforehand. The estimate becomes useful when it informs a concrete decision. A large number by itself does not show that your schedule has changed.
