The practical answer
Lesscue selects websites through Apple’s Screen Time picker; it is not a URL-rule editor or network firewall. A request to block one feed path while keeping another page on the same site is therefore different from selecting a domain. Start with the exact access you need, then choose a supported boundary.
A setup to try
- Write down the destination and whether you mean its native app, website domain, or one page inside that website. Do not treat these as interchangeable targets.
- Use Apple’s picker to select the available website token. If the desired destination is not offered, keep that limitation visible instead of inventing a text rule.
- Test the hostname, common redirected address, and the browser you normally use. A domain label does not establish every subdomain or alternate hostname as verified.
- If useful and distracting content share one inseparable site, use a planned access window or prepare the needed material before the session rather than claiming a path-level filter.
Can I block youtube.com/shorts but keep every other YouTube page open?
Lesscue does not provide arbitrary URL-path rules. A website token represents Apple’s supported domain selection, not a custom instruction to remove only the Shorts route. Consider a time window for YouTube access or prepare a specific lecture before starting a broader boundary.
Does selecting the YouTube app also select the YouTube website?
No. Application and website tokens are distinct. If you normally switch from a blocked app to the browser version, inspect both routes when making the group. Selecting only the app should not be described as complete coverage of the service across the iPhone.
Will selecting example.com definitely block m.example.com too?
Do not infer that from the label alone. Subdomain and redirect behavior must be checked with Apple’s actual selection and your browser configuration. Test the address you use, especially mobile or regional hostnames, before depending on the boundary during an important task.
Can I paste a list of URLs into Lesscue to create website rules?
The current implementation uses Apple’s picker and opaque website tokens, not a pasted URL list. If a destination is unavailable in the picker, Lesscue does not silently manufacture a rule for it. A whole-browser application boundary may be a more suitable option for that session.
Why can I still open a website through a different domain name?
A service can have alternate hostnames, regional sites, or redirected entry points. A selection for one available domain is not a promise to recognize every related destination. Review the route that actually opened, then test any additional supported selection without guessing its coverage.
Can I keep Safari available while blocking a few distracting sites?
That is the intended distinction between a browser application and selected website tokens. Keep Safari outside the app block or in Always Allowed, and select the supported distracting domains separately. Always verify the sites needed for your task before using a restrictive session.
Does choosing an app category mean every related website is individually selected?
No. Category policies and explicit website tokens are different selections in Lesscue’s model. Review what the picker shows and test the actual destinations. A category’s name is not evidence that every site you associate with that topic has been classified or covered by Apple.
Is Lesscue inspecting all network requests to decide what to block?
No. The current implementation uses Apple’s Screen Time frameworks, not a VPN or DNS inspection service. That distinction matters for both privacy and coverage: it does not make a universal claim about every network connection, browser engine, or page embedded inside another app.
Can a private browsing tab be treated as proof that no website restriction applies?
No. Reporting behavior and restriction checks are separate concerns. Lesscue does not advertise private-browsing history, and lack of a visible domain report is not proof that a boundary is absent. Test the relevant private-tab route directly instead of interpreting report visibility as enforcement evidence.
What is a practical alternative when I need one page on a blocked domain?
Use a smaller period of access and define the page-specific task before opening the site, or prepare the necessary material in advance where permitted. Lesscue cannot promise a URL-path exception that its picker does not support. Choose a boundary whose limits you can explain plainly.
