The practical answer
Lesscue Free is intended to support an everyday setup: one saved app group, one recurring routine, unlimited focus sessions, Always Allowed, Insights, history, and the full Gem collection. Pro removes the product cap on saved groups and routines and adds specified features. Unlimited saved definitions does not remove iOS monitoring limits.
A setup to try
- Build one useful group around the distractions you repeatedly reach for, rather than creating a separate group for every app. Keep essential individual apps in Always Allowed.
- Use that group for a recurring routine and for one-off focus sessions with custom durations. Check the current selection before each task rather than assuming one broad group fits everything.
- Explore the Gem scenes and palettes without treating them as paid unlocks. Appearance and core session history belong to the Free experience as well.
- Consider Pro when you need additional saved definitions, Locked or the optional pause, optional iCloud sync, or real widgets and Live Activities—not merely because you want another ordinary session.
Does Free stop working after a fixed number of focus sessions?
No. The Free plan has no session-count limit or trial countdown in the current product contract. It includes unlimited focus sessions with Confirm to end. The limits concern saved group and routine definitions, so distinguish repeated use from how many different configurations you store.
Can one Free app group contain several distracting apps?
The one-group limit counts the saved group definition, not a promise that you may select only one app. Build a useful set in Apple’s picker, within its applicable limits. Review the selected apps, categories, and websites so the group remains understandable rather than needlessly broad.
Can I use the same Free group for a routine and an immediate focus session?
The reusable-group model supports using a saved selection in different timing contexts. A routine and a one-off focus session still have their own active states and ending behavior. Review any overlap before assuming ending the immediate session also removes the recurring boundary.
Is Always Allowed available without buying Pro?
Yes. Essential individual-app exceptions are part of the core Free scope. They are separate from the saved group count. During active protection, adding an exception that weakens the current boundary still follows the relevant ending policy; Free availability does not make a live exception change invisible.
Are the five Gem scenes or their colors paid unlocks?
No. The current plan includes the full five-scene Gem collection, four palettes, and optional tilt on both Free and Pro. Those choices are presentation preferences rather than a collectible purchase gate. Select the scene that reads well for you without expecting a different blocking strength.
Do I need Pro to see my focus history and basic Insights?
No. History and the described Insights experience are included in the core Free scope. Apple Screen Time data still depends on authorization and availability. A missing report is not automatically a paywall, and a Pro purchase should not be presented as a way to manufacture missing system data.
What does unlimited Pro routines actually mean?
It removes the product cap on saved routine definitions. It does not promise unlimited simultaneous iOS monitoring. Lesscue reserves monitoring capacity for immediate focus and applies an enabled-routine limit, so saving a large library and activating every entry at once are different operations.
Can I use Locked or Emergency access on Free for just one session?
No. A new Locked start and a new Emergency release are Pro-only in the current contract. Free offers Confirm to end for ordinary sessions. Emergency is not a general Free escape button; it exists only for eligible active Locked protection and follows its rolling allowance.
Is Pro required just to choose a custom focus duration?
No. Custom durations and unlimited ordinary focus sessions are part of the core experience. Pro relates to additional saved configurations and the specified advanced features. Choose a duration that matches the task rather than treating a longer timer as inherently more premium or more effective.
When is paying for Pro unnecessary for my current setup?
If one group, one recurring routine, ordinary Confirm sessions, local records, and the included visual choices meet your needs, the Free scope may be sufficient. Upgrade when a named Pro feature solves a concrete requirement, not because a completed session is about to use up an imaginary credit.
