Lesscue is in development. Product-specific guidance describes the current native development build. Public App Store availability has not been announced. Website screens use illustrative data.

The practical answer

A 50-minute focus session is a record of a chosen interval, not proof that you avoided 50 minutes of screen use. Lesscue separates its observed session history from Apple’s Screen Time report. Compare like periods and read outcome labels before describing a change as reduced usage.

A setup to try

  1. Choose the question first: how much you used the screen, or what happened to a Lesscue session. Open the matching part of Insights rather than substituting one metric for the other.
  2. Compare equal-length periods in the Screen Time view and check the days supplied. Today is partial, so do not compare an unfinished morning with a complete prior day.
  3. Review completed, early-ended, and unconfirmed session outcomes separately. Count the observed interval rather than the original plan when a session stops early.
  4. If you want to judge a habit change, keep a note of the context—workload, travel, study, or illness—rather than assigning every difference to a timer.

If I complete a 50-minute timer, did Lesscue save me 50 minutes?

No. The timer establishes a session interval and its recorded outcome, not what you would otherwise have done. You might have used an allowed app or worked offline. Use Apple’s usage report for screen-time changes and keep the session result as separate evidence of your plan.

Why can my screen time rise on a day with several completed focus sessions?

You may spend more time in useful allowed apps, work longer, or use the phone outside those sessions. Completion does not require total phone abstinence. Review the app breakdown and the timing of usage before deciding whether the day’s boundaries served your actual task.

Can I add Safari time and all website times to calculate a larger total?

Not safely without understanding their scope. Browser and website figures can describe overlapping activity, so adding them can double-count usage. Prefer the report’s defined total and treat the breakdown as context for where time went, rather than as independent quantities to sum.

Does the completion rate measure how disciplined I am?

It measures the recorded outcomes of Lesscue sessions under its stated calculation, not your character or attention quality. A session ended for a necessary call is still an early ending. Read the reason and context instead of converting a percentage into a judgment about yourself.

How is a session counted if I stop after 12 of 30 planned minutes?

The observed interval belongs in the history; the remaining planned minutes are not earned focus time. The outcome should remain an early ending rather than a completion. This makes a short attempt visible without pretending the original 30-minute commitment was carried out.

Do overlapping records from two iPhones give me twice as much focus time?

Lesscue’s focus calculations use the union of observed intervals so overlapping spans do not simply stack into extra time. Imported iCloud history can come from another device. That history remains distinct from the Apple Screen Time report’s own device and date scope.

Can a completed routine produce a perfect-day score today?

Lesscue does not currently infer full routine adherence from scheduling records. An enabled routine or a deduplication key is not a complete outcome ledger. The app should not turn those implementation details into a perfect-day badge or a claim that every planned boundary was kept.

Why should I compare the last seven full days rather than today alone?

A partial day changes as more activity arrives and may not resemble a completed day. Equal-length completed periods make the comparison easier to interpret. Even then, check the days supplied and consider differences such as a weekend, travel, or a deadline before drawing conclusions.

Does an unconfirmed session mean I deliberately quit?

No. An unconfirmed outcome means the app lacks the evidence needed to classify that ending confidently. It should remain distinct from a confirmed early end or completion. Do not fill the gap with an invented story about what you did or how focused you were.

What would count as a useful weekly review without a discipline score?

Pick one concrete observation, such as a repeatedly high-usage hour, and one adjustment for the following week. Compare the relevant report again later. This connects the numbers to a decision while preserving the distinction between observed screen activity, recorded sessions, and your own interpretation.
