The practical answer
Emergency access is available only for eligible Pro users during active Locked protection. Hold continuously for five seconds to authorize release; letting go earlier cancels. There are two confirmed uses per rolling seven days. A successful release ends current Lesscue protection and pauses automatic routines until you explicitly resume.
A setup to try
- Open Settings → Protection → Emergency access while eligible Locked protection is active. Read the affected runs, remaining uses, and next allowance availability before beginning.
- Hold the wide confirmation control continuously. Its fill and butterfly light represent progress, but the five-second threshold and final state checks authorize the release.
- Wait for the actual cleanup result. If removal needs a retry, follow the recovery action; a decorative animation is not the evidence that protection was cleared.
- When you are ready, use explicit Resume. It restores eligible future routine starts, not the ended focus session or a routine window already in progress.
Where is Emergency access while a Locked focus session is running?
Open the scoped Settings sheet, then Protection → Emergency access. It is not a floating shortcut on every tab or a regular timer-end button. The entry is available for a new release only when current Locked protection and Pro eligibility satisfy the policy.
Does a four-second hold use one of my Emergency chances?
No. Releasing before the five-second threshold cancels the attempt and clears its progress. A partial hold does not consume an allowance or carry progress into a later attempt. The release requires a complete valid hold and a confirmed intent recorded by the app.
How often do the two Emergency uses reset?
They use a rolling seven-day window, not a Monday or calendar-week reset. Each confirmed use stops counting seven days after its own timestamp. The review shows the remaining allowance and next availability, so two uses on different days recover at different times.
Does five seconds mean my apps will only be available for five seconds?
No. Five seconds is the confirmation hold, not the access duration. After successful release, automatic routines remain paused until you explicitly resume. The current design does not promise a five-minute pass or automatic reblocking after a short emergency interval.
Will the routine immediately block me again after Emergency succeeds?
Lesscue pauses automatic routine starts and skips the affected current windows. It does not immediately recreate the same restriction behind the success screen. When you explicitly resume, eligible routines can begin at future starts; the old focus session is not restarted.
If cleanup fails after my hold, do I need to spend another use on retry?
No. The confirmed release transaction is retained, and cleanup retry continues it without a second allowance. Read the recovery state and use Retry block removal. The app should not show a successful shatter or claim access is open before its owned cleanup succeeds.
Can I buy an extra Emergency use or watch an ad for one?
No. The current policy has no per-use purchase, credit, or advertising exchange. A new release requires the defined Pro entitlement, active Locked protection, and an available rolling allowance. The review should make the rule clear before you start the hold.
What happens if I receive an interruption and Lesscue leaves the foreground during the hold?
The in-progress hold is canceled rather than completing offscreen. Its timing depends on a valid foreground interaction, not on an animation continuing somewhere else. Return to the review and begin again if you still need access and remain eligible.
Is there an alternative if I use VoiceOver and cannot perform the touch hold?
The accessible path preserves the deliberate five-second requirement with a foreground countdown followed by a separate Release now confirmation. Cancel remains available. It is an alternative interaction for the same policy, not an instant-release shortcut or a different Emergency allowance.
Does Emergency remove Apple’s own Screen Time limits or another blocker’s restrictions?
No. Successful cleanup refers to the protection Lesscue owns. Apple settings, device-management rules, and restrictions created by another app can remain. If access is still limited, identify the remaining source instead of repeatedly consuming or retrying a completed Lesscue release.
