The practical answer

Choose the next study output first, then preserve the applications that make it possible. A PDF reader, dictionary, calculator or note app may be part of the work. Lesscue can set aside selected distractions without deciding whether every minute in a reference tool was educational.

A setup to try

  1. List the exact materials for the next task, including documents, reference apps and any required sign-in.
  2. Keep those applications outside the blocked group and select the optional apps you tend to open instead.
  3. Test access, complete one defined study task, then review both the output and any unexpected reference needs.

Can I block social apps while reading a PDF on my iPhone?

Yes, preserve the application that opens the PDF and select the unrelated apps you want to set aside. Check whether the document needs a cloud sign-in or another browser route first. A simple reading task can involve more than the PDF viewer alone.

Should a dictionary app be Always Allowed?

Make it a global exception if you need it across all your usual boundaries. Otherwise, leave it outside the particular study group. A narrow choice is easier to review when the dictionary is only needed for one course, while a global exception is useful for a consistently essential tool.

What if my notes app also contains a distracting social feed?

Lesscue does not separate useful and distracting features inside the same app. Decide whether the whole application is required for the period. You can prepare the necessary notes elsewhere before starting, or choose a flexible boundary while you work out a more suitable tool arrangement.

Can I block a textbook website but keep a downloaded PDF from it?

The website and the application displaying a locally available PDF are separate routes. Preserve the reader and verify that the file opens as expected before the session. Do not assume a download is usable without testing, especially if the reader checks an account or license.

Will Lesscue measure how many pages I read?

No page-count measurement is promised by the current app. A session outcome records time, not reading progress or comprehension. If page count matters, record it in the reading tool or your notes, then use the focus record as context for the period in which you worked.

How do I avoid blocking a calculator selected inside a broad category?

Review the actual applications before starting and preserve the calculator you need. A broad category can be less transparent than a specific list of distractions. Test one example calculation and any related tools during a flexible session before relying on a longer commitment.

Can I use separate groups for language study and maths?

Pro supports multiple saved groups, so you can preserve different resources for each task. Free can use one group of common distractions and review its selection before a session. Make separate groups when the access needs differ, rather than simply mirroring every subject name.

What should I do when I discover a missing reference during a session?

Write down the missing tool and decide whether the current task can continue without it. Confirm permits a deliberate early-ending flow; Locked does not have an ordinary exception. Update the saved group for future starts after the session so the same requirement is handled next time.

Does a study boundary require internet access for my materials?

The materials determine that requirement, not the label on the session. A local PDF may be available offline, while an online course or sign-in may need a connection. Lesscue does not make an online resource available offline merely because you preserved its application.

How can I tell whether the selection was too strict?

Review which blocked tools were genuinely required for the intended output and which were optional detours. Add only the necessary resources to the next setup. A useful boundary lets the planned work happen; repeatedly ending sessions to reach basic reference tools is a sign to revise the selection.
