Lesscue is in development. Product-specific guidance describes the current native development build. Public App Store availability has not been announced. Website screens use illustrative data.

The practical answer

Lesscue’s small and medium Home Screen widgets are Pro surfaces that show a local focus summary, a current focus entry, or the next routine. They are not continuously running copies of the app. The app requests updates when relevant state changes, while iOS decides when the widget is actually refreshed.

A setup to try

  1. Confirm you have an active Pro entitlement in the app, then add Lesscue through the iPhone’s widget gallery. Viewing an example inside Settings does not install a Home Screen widget.
  2. Choose the small or medium presentation for the space available. Read the title and time context so a next-routine label is not mistaken for an active session.
  3. If the display seems stale, open Lesscue and check the current local state before using its refresh control. A request to refresh is not an immediate-delivery guarantee.
  4. Review what is visible on the Home Screen if the phone is shared. The widget uses a minimal summary rather than exporting your full app list or raw Screen Time report.

Does the Free plan include a live Lesscue Home Screen widget?

The actual personal-summary widget is Pro-only. Free users can inspect the example design inside Settings, but the example is labeled sample data and is not published as their real widget information. A Free widget state should show a Pro explanation without exposing a personal summary.

Why can I see a widget preview in Settings but nothing on my Home Screen?

The Settings preview is a design example, not an installed widget. Add Lesscue through the iPhone’s widget gallery and choose a supported size. For a personal summary, also confirm an active Pro entitlement and a healthy local state in the app.

How is the medium widget different from the small one?

Both use the same local summary contract and glass visual language; the medium size has more room for context. Choose based on the space and information you want at a glance. Neither size unlocks a different blocking policy or turns the widget into a full Screen Time report.

Why does the widget still show an older number after I finish a session?

WidgetKit manages refresh timing separately from the app. Lesscue updates its local summary and requests a reload, but iOS may defer presentation. Open the app to inspect the current recorded result rather than assuming a slightly delayed widget proves the session was not saved.

Does a widget refresh request make an Apple or Cloudflare API call every time?

The widget reads a minimal local summary and locally observed entitlement information. It is not a live dashboard that sends personal history to Cloudflare on every display. Separate Apple purchase or optional iCloud operations should not be confused with drawing the widget’s cached content.

Will the widget show the names of every app I blocked?

No. The shared summary is deliberately smaller than the full product state. It excludes app-selection tokens, the complete history, and raw Screen Time usage. The widget focuses on session timing, a compact focus total, and a short next-routine context rather than a detailed app inventory.

What happens to the widget when my paid subscription period actually ends?

Once the entitlement is no longer valid, personal-summary presentation is gated and a Pro state is used instead. iOS still controls when the visible widget refresh occurs. Turning off renewal before the paid period ends is different from the entitlement already expiring.

Why does a widget sometimes show unavailable instead of zero minutes?

A missing, invalid, or stale summary should not be turned into a numerical zero. Zero would imply a known day with no observed focus. Open Lesscue to check storage and current state; an unavailable label preserves that distinction until usable information is available.

Can a widget tap end my Locked session?

No. Widget links open a supported destination; they are not release commands. While focus is active, Lesscue keeps navigation in that session. Ordinary ending and Emergency access require their in-app policy checks, so tapping a Home Screen surface does not authorize an early release.

Do I need iCloud sync or a Lesscue login to use the widget?

No. Widgets use the local device summary and Pro entitlement. Optional iCloud sync and the Lesscue account are separate features. If you choose sync, imported focus history may affect the local total, but enabling cloud transfer is not a prerequisite for installing the widget.
